Water can be damaging to your home or your business. It is extremely important to act quickly when water disrupts your daily life. 

Here are some emergency quick tips related to coping with water and the damage it can create:

  • Locate the source of the water and shut-off the water source.
  • Turn-off circuit breakers for wet areas of the building when the access to the power distribution panel is safe from electrical shock
  • Do not enter affected areas if electrical outlets, switches, circuit breakers or electrical equipment are exposed to water. 
  • Do not turn on ceiling fixtures if the ceiling is wet or if the ceiling is sagging from retained water. 
  • Remove as much excess water as possible by mopping and blotting. 
  • Do not use your household vacuum to remove water since this could cause electrical shock.
